Copyright
Copyright is the exclusive right of the maker of a work of literature, science or art, to publish and multiply that work. Copyright is automatically obtained the moment the work is created; no application or registration is therefore required in order to obtain copyright. It is a requirement, however, that the work is original; in practice, that threshold is not very high.
Copyright protection can also be invoked for software, although patent protection, if possible, is usually to be preferred for software.
The copyright protection period ends 70 years after the death of the maker.
